Tornado Safety

It is very important for every school and home to have a plan. This plan should also be practiced and talked about regularly. By doing this it will allow everyone to know what to do if a disaster was to occur. The best place to go during a tornado is a basement. More than likely your school or home will not have this type of accommodation. Another alternative is the interior rooms or hallways. Once you are in these areas it is best to get close to the ground and place your hands over your head. The right way to do this is shown above. Make sure you are away from doors and windows. The school or home should also have some sort of siren or bell that lets everyone know what is going on. For example maybe a siren or an air horn.

There are also many precautions that you can take if you are in a car, mobile home, shopping center, or bridge. Please visit http://www.tornadoproject.com/safety/safety.htm for more information and photos that show damage.
