PATTERAN DAIRY GOATS
![]() |
Since 1975 Saanens have been an important part of our herd.
Since 1985 they have been protected by Akbash Dogs like the one shown here. Were pleased with type of animals our Saanen herdsires are producing, and we think you will be, too. A primary influence in our Saanens is the Clovertop Herd of Ray Vieira and Manuel Cabrito of California. We bought our first Clovertop buck almost 20 years ago. This herd is famous for the quality of their animals, and their success as a commercial herd as well, with approximately 350 milking does at one time. |
| We currently have two mature Clovertop bucks, both with dams
that have milk production records of over 4000 lbs. We have owned two other Clovertop
bucks. One, Clovertops Snow Design, was the sire of 2 ADGA National Champions. His
grandsons have been used with good results in a number of California Saanen herds, one of
which is Redwood Hills. Another bloodline that we have used heavily is Waldens. This old, small herd in Montana is known for its quality Saanens big does with good conformation, consistently high classification scores, and high milk production. Here are udder shots of some of the young does on our milkline. |

SAANENS HERDSIRES |
||
1. CLOVERTOP'S PHILOSOPHER sire: Clovertop's Attitude Phil, now an aged buck, is one of our most valued herdsires. His dam had the combination of production and mammary system we value. Phils daughters have long steady lactations, like his dam, Philodendron, who has two lactations of over 4000 lbs. of milk. The only other Philodendron son we know of was in the Jug Tavern herd, a herd has been competitive at the Nationals. |
