Kalakal oj Rillos Family Background

Kalakal or "Kal" as his friends call him was born in the Carthurn Forest on 12-26-4640. He is a barbarian wild elf and spent most of his life in the forest. Around the time he reached adulthood he journeyed to Romm in 4744 because his friend Freolf went to school there and was always bragging about how much fun 'fuball' was. Upon arrival he promptly found someone who had a sports scholarship at the University of Romm and beat him up then took it away from him. There he stayed occasionally attending a class, but mostly just playing ball and drinking his new found love, beer. He eventually left and started adventuring with school friends when his sports eligibility ran out and they gave him a "degree" (well at least a piece of paper with some writing on it).

Father: Shinris oj Rillos "Shinris the Invincible"

Actually a slight bit smaller than Kalakal, Shinris has nonetheless earned the nickname "the Invincible" because of his stalwart constitution and ability to take massive amounts of damage. While not the strongest warrior, he is one of the hardiest elves ever to grace the Carthurn Forest. Shinris is fond of his spear, Toramunda, and his assortment of throwing javelins, with which he makes his living as a hunter. While he is not a leader per se, he has a veteran's skill in forest warfare - it is said that he is denied leadership because his plans are so daring only he would survive them.

Mother: Hillyra oj Rillos

A warrior of sorts in her own right, Hillyra enjoys her status among the Kadani ("the people") as a scout and warning runner of sorts. Lithe and quick, Hillyra enjoys the use of ranged weapons which allow her to move and fire with great speed. A passing tribe of dorn killed her parents when she was a very small child. Shinris took her as his wife at a victory celebration after the defeat of a large goblin tribe.

Older Brother: Glanglun oj Rillos

Glanglun is a druid shaman of some power. Taking leave of his tribe to become a caretaker of the forest (Sunyaasi), not much of Glanglun is seen. He does show up from time to time in order to warn his tribe of possible dangers, though there are not many who can threaten the Kadani in their forest. Glanglun does most of his travel and watching at night, conspiring with the nocturnal creatures in an effort to keep a closer eye on the Orcs and other night-dwellers. His preferred weapon is the forest around him, or any branch he can find lying around.

Younger Sister: J'niceral'la oj Rillos

17 years ago (4735) in a raid against a band of gnolls who were encroaching on elven territory, Shinris found an infant human the gnolls were about to sacrifice. After gathering some amount of evidence, the elves learned that the child's parents were in a caravan that was raided by the gnolls. Shinris and Hillyra took the child in and raised her as their own, and she was eventually accepted into the tribe, given the name J'niceral'la - effectively translating to something like "the one who is from outside yet is loved." She never got to know Glanglun very well, as he left long ago, but Kalakal quickly became a staunch defender of her status as an elf. Before Kalakal left, his parents decided she should be given a human name "Jenny" and set free to roam the world when the time is right. Thus they have made sure she is schooled well in the arts of magic.

Jenny left home shortly after Kal and has been wandering the world ever since.

Grandmother (father's side): Direnni ojva Rillos

Though there are few fat elves, some do exist. To say that Direnni is "fat" is a bit of an overstatement though. Plump, yes, but fat... well she eats a lot, and she enjoys preparing meals for anyone that will allow her to cook. Once a sorceror of some power, Direnni has retired to what she considers the easy life of a grandmother. Her husband was sacrificed by dorn long ago, and she brought a terrible retribution down upon that tribe for it.

Weird prophetic shaman-guy: Nilisvati

A widely respected traveling holy man of the elves, Nilisvati is known for the accuracy of his prophecies and the wisdom in his words. It is said that his whim directs the hands of the elders of each tribe, and thus through them, the entire elven nation. Nilisvati denies such rumors, saying that he is only a messenger, not a ruler. He jokingly responds to such accuisations by saying that he is not enough of a schemer for such a duty. Minutes after Kalakal's birth, Nilisvati entered the tribe-village of Arkenar and made a beeline for the Rillos abode. Entering without saying a word, he examined the newborn. A look of astounded confusion came across his face, and he said to the parents "He is to be the Fist of Aris." Hillyra and Shinris both responded with mixed feelings about this, as the elven nation of Ulaan-Khaiji'in (Carthurn Forest) was in no danger, and neither was Aris, at least not in these parts. Would this mean that dark times lay ahead? After much counsel with the parents, they decided that, for good or ill, for Carthurn Forest or for anywhere else, if and when Aris needed protection, Kalakal would be the Earth Mother's Vengeance and Protector. From then on, Nilisvati referred to Kalakal as "Fist," or "The Fist."

Elecean emissary to the Kadani: Freolf Grimaxe

Tall for a dwarf, Freolf loves the elves of Carthurn - in his letters and reports home he often refers to them as "the dwarves of the forest." Freolf wishes more elves were as hardy, down-to-earth, and straightforward as the Kadani. Freolf taught Kalakal everything he knows about the axe, and Kalakal taught Freolf everything he knows about running quickly (quickly for a dwarf). A mere week before Kalakal left for college, Freolf introduced Kalakal to some finely brewed dwarven beer, which Kal instantly fell in love with.
