Molecular Visualization Resources

To enjoy these presentations, your browser needs a plugin called Chime.  It is free from MDL Information Systems.

If you want to download molecule files and use them without a browser, Rasmol is a small and reliable viewer.  You can also save views as image files, like some of the .gifs in these pages.

Where does one get these molecule files?  The Protein Data Bank is the worldwide clearinghouse for information on biological compounds.  WebMolecules is a large library of many types of compounds.

You can draw molecules yourself with Isis/Draw, also free from MDL.

With Web/Lab Viewer you can translate Isis .skc files to .pdb (3D) files.

Super-Chime power tools are available from Cabrillo College.
