Name of Site: Council for Exceptional Children
Purpose of Site: This 80 year-old organization aims to improve educational outcomes for students with disabilities. It does this by providing advocacy information and supporting the professional development of educators who teach students with disabilities.
Recommended Sections: “Publications and Products” contains a useful online newsletter (CEC Today Online), as well as links full-text articles in the organization’s two journals, Exceptional Children and Teaching Exceptional Children. Publications can also be purchased from the CEC Resource Catalog. “CEC Discussion Forum” contains a number of discussion groups on topics such as behavior strategies, lesson plan ideas, and assessment. Registration is free and takes one day to be confirmed.
